It was after visiting an Andy Warhol exhibition in 1989 than Philippe Moreau felt inspired to create images.
He started to practice drawing on his own, and later on joined various Life Drawing sessions and other community art courses. At the same time he devoted a lot of time to theatre, which perhaps can be seen in the "staging" of the character on his planet.
However the genesis of Philippe's recurring figures, the use of ink and watercolours happened much later after discovering Leunig in a Perth exhibition in 1992. In 1998 Philippe completed a degree in Art Education, and went on to teach Visual Arts in high schools. He has recently returned to his own art and now dedicates more time to his illustrations.
In 2001 Philippe held his first solo exhibition titled "A World of My Own" at the Alliance Française of Sydney, revealing his universe of drifting planets. Philippe has contributed to various publications such as the Big Issue magazine and James Goold House Publication.
Philippe is currently teaching art and preparing an exhibition that will be held in France in early 2008.
